VP Bank event: Well equipped for highs and lows - Record pursuit on Mount Everest
An event for invited clients took place at the TAK in Schaan on 28 January to kick off the 2025 investment year. The evening was hosted by SRF presenter Rainer Maria Salzgeber, who, together with Adrian Schneider, Head of the Liechtenstein & BVI Region, welcomed the guests. Felix Brill took a closer look at the question of what opportunities and risks await us in the financial markets in 2025 and how we can prepare for them. Among other things, he discussed the mood in the US since Donald Trump took office as the 45th president, as well as inflation in Switzerland and the SNB's forecasts.
Extreme mountaineer Karl Egloff as star guest
The Ecuadorian-Swiss extreme mountaineer Karl Egloff was the star guest at the event and talked about his plan to scale the highest peaks on each continent in record time. After already setting four records, he is now planning to scale Mount Everest (8,848 m) as quickly as possible in the spring – without oxygen tanks and without the support of sherpas, in one go from base camp to the summit and back. On stage, he described how he became an extreme mountaineer, how he prepared for Mount Everest in the basement of his house with oxygen equipment that he can use to regulate the oxygen supply, and how he deals with the risks that the world's highest mountain entails. He also shared his personal story of why he left Ecuador with his family and moved to Switzerland.
Cooperation
As part of a cooperation with Karl Egloff, VP Bank will continue to accompany and support him on his journey. VP Bank sees its cooperation with Karl Egloff as an opportunity to emphasise its values. Climbing the world's highest mountain in record time represents a commitment to and the will to reach new heights – qualities that also characterise VP Bank in its daily work.
